News About Town: The Board of Commissioners will meet with town staff for a FY 21/22 Budget Workshop tonight at 6 pm at Town Hall. This is the third budget meeting. The Board will have a Public Hearing for budget input at the June 14 meeting. Currently the Town Manager is requesting a 1.5-cent property tax increase from .28 to .295.

News Around Town: Skip the summer learning backwards slide by signing up for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library’s Summer Break. Sign up to participate then read 30 minutes a day, complete five other fun activities, and win prizes. Starting today and running through August 14, the library has a community goal to log 35,000,000 hours of reading this summer.

One Good Thing: Matthews Playhouse has two more performances of Godspell at Stumptown Park next weekend (June 12 and 13, both at 7:30 pm). The play features a small band on stage whose music sets the parables of Jesus to life. The actors are an array of personalities seeking to better understand the teachings of Jesus in a modern and engaging way. Don’t miss this show! The tickets are $10 a person (minimum $20) per four-person pod.
