News About Town: Make sure to check out the new banners lining Trade and John Streets in downtown that honor some of our nation's finest. Sixteen banners, each with a name of a veteran who live or have lived in Matthews are on display. Veterans from the Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force are represented. This display is a part of a tribute created by the Matthews Veterans Advisory Committee which the Town hopes to continue for years to come. Friends and families of those honored nominated their loved ones to be included.

News Around Town is a bit long today, so we’re switching up the order. You don’t want to miss this One Good Thing: Girl Scout Troop 428 is hosting a Toy Drive and Festive 5k on Sunday, Nov 14. Dress up in your favorite holiday gear, and drop off an unwrapped gift (or gifts) at the donation tent in the bus lot at Matthews Elementary between 2 and 4pm.
