The year is 1915 and you are invited to Dr. & Mrs. T. N. Reid's annual Victorian Lawn Party at their home at 134 W. John Street from 12 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2020. Step back in time and learn how the early residents of Matthews got together and enjoyed each other’s company.
The Matthews Heritage Museum is sponsoring the 5th Annual Lawn Party where you can partake in activities that were common in the early 20th century. You can make note cards out with eggshell mosaics, or decorate a napkin ring holder! Participate in the Maypole Dance, a favorite activity of this time. A variety of games can be played by old and young alike, from dominoes to croquet. You might learn about woodworking, basket making, beekeeping or quilling (art of the coiling and shaping narrow paper strips to create a design).
If you like antique cars, we will have a few vintage automobiles on the property including a 1928 LaSalle.
The event is FREE, though donations are suggested for certain activities.
We will have the Food Truck Dan Good Que, that will share a small per centage of his profits with the Museum. Bring a blanket or chairs to enjoy the day!
For more information contact the museum at 704-708-4996 or check out the website: www.matthewsheritagemuseum.org or our Facebook page.
